Citizen Action Watches Barack Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention
On Thursday, August 28th, Citizen Action threw a party to watch Barack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech at the home of Matt Baumgartner in Albany. About 80 Citizen Action supporters and friends joined to enjoy the evening.
Guests screened video featuring behind the scenes footage from the convention, including interviews with New York delegates such as House Majority Leader Malcolm Smith, Albany City Councilman Corey Ellis, and President of UFT Randi Weingarten. Just before Barack Obama came on the large screen, Citizen Action Member Bill Ritchie delivered a lively speech marking the importance of the night. Present at the party were City Council President Shawn Morris, Albany District Attorney David Soares and local Assemblyman Jack McEneny.
