BINGHAMTON Health care reform advocates in the 24th Congressional District, represented by Michael Arcuri, D-Utica, are planning a rolling demonstration beginning in Binghamton and ending in Utica Tuesday.
Participants will hold a vigil to remember people whose deaths were related to a lack of health coverage, before forming a caravan from Binghamton to Utica by way of Cortland, said Mary Clark, regional director of Citizen Action of New York.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Binghamton First Presbyterian Church, 42 Chenango St.
Advocates will petition Rep. Arcuri to work to deliver health care legislation by the end of the year, with a strong public option and affordable coverage for all New Yorkers.
The local event is one of thousands planned nationally, sponsored by Health Care for America Now.
