Lea Webb is applauded by O, The Oprah Magazine for Her Efforts
Lea Webb was one of the 80 standouts invited to New York City for three days of leadership training with coaching by some of the top women trailblazers in the country. Of the 80 women profiled in last year’s article only 3 women were profiled, and Webb was one of the three.
This month, O, The Oprah Magazine caught up with three Women Rule! alumnae to hear about the success they’ve had over the past year. Last spring, O, The Oprah Magazine partnered with The White House Project to put out a call to women who already had initiated a leadership project and wanted to take it to the next level. More than 3,000 women with great ideas applied for Women Rule!, the first-ever leadership project contest held by O, The Oprah Magazine and the national, non-partisan White House Project.
Webb took what she learned at Women Rule! and implemented it into her personal project: establishing a grocery store in her underserved neighborhood. “Residents in my neighborhood have been waiting tirelessly for the grocery store. I am very proud to have been able to play a role in ending this 15 year food desert,” says Webb.
To commemorate this honor a celebration is being held on Thursday, October 15th, 7pm-9pm at the Lost Dog Café, 222 Water St-Binghamton. You can read about Webb’s experience in the November issue of O, The Oprah Magazine on newsstands October 13. In addition Webb will be featured online at: http://www.oprah.com/article/omagazine.
