Binghamton City Councilwoman and Citizen Action of NY Organizer Lea Webb to be Honored at the 2009 NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner Binghamton City Councilwoman and Citizen Action of NY Organizer Lea Webb will be one of this year’s honorees at the Bi-Annual Broome-Tioga NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner. She will receive the President’s Award, the organization’s highest honor on Saturday, November 14th. The dinner will take place at the Holiday Inn Arena, 2-8 Hawley St, Binghamton, 6pm. Other honorees include H. Toni Norton and Stanley Gluck will receive the Fred C. Hazel Lifetime Achievement award, the Broome County Urban League will receive the Bille D. Anderson Community Service Award; Cheyo Rogers and Nathan Studgeon will receive the branch’s Youth/Young Adult Award; Giant Markets and Visions Federal Credit Union will receive the Outstanding Business Award; and Richard Alston and Press & Sun-Bulletin columnist Valerie Zehl will receive the Outstanding Individual Award. The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
