Bahram “BK” Keramati, a native of Iran, became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1977 and is now a Galway resident and chairman of its town Democratic Committee. He received his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Penn State University, then began his career with GE in Schenectady, from which he retired in 2004. He has participated in the GE mentoring program, served on the Princetown Planning Board, and became an activist with Citizen Action of New York and other organizations, such as Americans for Campaign Reform, to, according to his website, “reduce the detrimental effects of large campaign contributions to our democracy.” He ran unsuccessfully for state Senate in 2008.
