Some State Officials received Valentines Monday, but probably not the ones they expected.

“Don’t break our hearts- we deserve an opportunity to learn” was the messages on those cards along with calling on legislators to reject Governor Cuomo’s $1.5 billion in school cuts.

Parents, students and community members created the cards in hope of getting their message across while the governor is proposing the largest cut to schools in the history of New York State.

“Although we understand that the budget has to be reduced we are hoping it won’t be so severe on the education part.  there are many other areas that won’t be hurting young people and people trying to get ahead and people trying to become education in our community.” said Kathleen Hull

The governor’s budget proposal includes a $1.5 billion cut to education that would come on the heels of last year’s devastating $1.4 billion cut.
