Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A group in Binghamton stands up to say “Hands Off.”

Citizen Action joined with the Occupy Wall Street movement in Binghamton.

The groups are to urging the Congressional Super committee to protect government programs and not cut Medicaid, Medicare or Social Security.

The Super committee has until Wednesday, November 23 to reach an agreement on a deficit reduction of 1.2 trillion dollars over the next decade.

If no agreement is reached or the recommendations are not approved by December 23, automatic across-the-board cuts will start in 2013.

“We’re saying no to the Super committee to cut any of the vital programs. They need to look at raising revenues on the 1 percent rather than attacking programs that the 99 percent of us depend on and we salute the Occupy movement here in Binghamton and throughout the nation,” said Mary Clark, Citizen Action.

Citizen Action says government is trying to balance the budget on the backs of seniors, children and the disabled.

Citizen Action symbolically “passed a torch” to the Occupy Binghamton group. The group has been camping out at the corner of State and Court Streets for thirty eight days now. Around fifteen people are staying there overnight.
