Republican’s Vote to Rip Health Care from Families to Give Tax Cuts to the Rich

Working Families Are Demanding Guaranteed, Universal Health Care

Albany, NY – In response to Senate Republicans’ vote to dismantle our health care system, Jessica Wisneski, Deputy Director at Citizen Action of New York, said:

“Senate Republicans keep siding with the super rich instead of standing with working people who need quality, affordable health care. Their proposals will force millions of families into suffering just to give tax cuts to the super rich.

“Repealing the Affordable Care Act would rip coverage from 22 million working people, double health insurance premiums, and give those with incomes over $1 million more than $50,000 per year in tax breaks. It’s time for everyone in America to have guaranteed, universal health care.

“While the super rich try to influence what’s happening in Washington, our leaders here in New York State can build on their history of expanding coverage by guaranteeing universal health care for everyone right now.”
