This Year’s conference will feature our Brothers and Sisters from the Labor movement. We will talk about the issues that help us build together and begin creating strategies that bring labor and community groups together to change the power dynamic.

Green Jobs & Energy Efficiency Campaign Workshop – Learn how a new state program is helping create new jobs, revitalize communities, and making people’s homes more comfortable at affordable rates.

Ready for Kindergarten, Ready for College Workshop – This year public schools faced the largest state budget cut in education history. All children deserve a quality education starting with early care and learning programs that prepare our children for their future. This workshop will be an opportunity to discuss how these school cuts have hurt our kids and how the state can chose to create revenue to put the funding back in our schools.

How to Win Campaigns /w Grassroots Strategies Workshop -This workshop will teach you the single most powerful and fundamental tool to grassroots organizing: The Strategy Chart. Learn how to create a winning strategy for your campaign.

Nassau County is planning on privatizing the Long Island Bus service. This could have some devastating effects on working families. The effects of privatization could be:

Drastic fare increases
Decreases in bus safety and cleanliness
Cuts to current service stops
Cut in frequency of stops
Entire bus lines being eliminating

Nassau County refuses to hold a public hearing on the matter, so we are holding our own People’s Hearing. Join bus riders, Long Island Jobs with Justice, the Long Island Progressive Coalition, New York Communities for Change, and Tri-State Transportation Campaign at the People’s Public Hearing for Long Island Bus.
