What’s Happening This Week?

We are lacing up our sneakers for the
Citizens’ March* on Saturday, August 12th. We will gather at noon on Academy Green in Kingston for a rally before carrying our message down Broadway.

What’s the message?
The current administration’s budget serves the interests of the mega rich before anyone else. We envision a system that provides for the basic needs of all of the country’s residents, and we are marching to show that we won’t settle for less.
* The definition of the word “citizen” is “an inhabitant of a particular town or city”. We chose this name to combat the right-wing rhetoric and help change the narrative around what a citizen really is. We welcome all
concerned members of towns and cities across the Hudson Valley!

RSVP here. If you are part of a business or organization that would like to endorse this event, please get in touch with us here.

NY19 Candidate Forum

8 Candidates have decided to stand up to run for Congress in 2018. This amount of competition should have John Faso scared to keep voting against his constituents.

Citizen Action of New York is excited to offer an opportunity to ask questions of Democratic Primary candidates, and listen for who among them has a vision for our community that is about people’s priorities, not the priorities of the super rich and right wing agenda.
We have confirmed Jeff Beals, Steven Brisee, David Clegg, Antonio Delgado, Brian Flynn, Gareth Rhodes, Pat Ryan, and Sue Sullivan.

Friendly Reminder: No matter who runs in 2018, our work must be to build civic engagement and power in our communities through outreach and developing our block captain program!
