Albany, NY – In response to the tax bill passing the Senate, Executive Director of Citizen Action of New York Karen Scharff issued the following statement:
“This tax scam is the culmination of a decades-long attack on our democratic institutions by the wealthiest in our society. Instead of working toward shared prosperity and economic opportunity for all, they’ve rigged the system to enhance their own bank accounts. If this bill truly benefited working people, as Republican leadership claims, they wouldn’t have rushed it through the Senate under the cover of night. Our job now is clear: to elect representatives who will work for the people and replace this disastrous tax scam with a plan that puts the needs of working people ahead of corporate profits.”
