Albany, NY—In response to Antonio Delgado’s victory over John Faso in New York’s 19th Congressional District, Karen Scharff, Executive Director of Citizen Action of New York, issued the following statement:
“Upstate New York now has another strong, compassionate leader who will listen to the needs of residents in his community and work every day in Congress to meet those needs.
“Future candidates would do well to learn from John Faso’s mistake: you can’t use racism to hide your pro-corporate, anti-worker agenda. With the help of Citizen Action members who spoke to thousands of voters on behalf of Antonio Delgado, voters saw through Faso’s racist campaign tactics and rejected Trump’s politics of hate and greed.
“By sending Antonio Delgado to Congress, voters have made it clear that they want affordable health care, living wage jobs, clean air and water, and a promising future for their children and communities.”
