Candidates receive endorsements from Citizen Action’s community-led board 

New York, NY – Citizen Action of New York’s New York City chapter announced its endorsement of its first set of candidates for this year’s state Assembly and congressional races. The list represents some of the most reliable and progressive champions across the city of New York. 

The candidates that received the board’s endorsement for State Assembly were Catalina Cruz (District 39, Queens), Diana Richardson (District 43, Brooklyn), Yuh-Line Niou (District 65, Manhattan),  Linda Rosenthal (District 67, Manhattan), Harvey Epstein (District 74, Manhattan) and Dick Gottfried (District 75, Manhattan). 

The congressional endorsements include Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (District 14) and Jerry Nadler (District 10).  

“I am proud to put my support behind these slate of candidates,” said Margaret Segall, Citizen Action State Board member. They have consistently shown up for our communities, resisted against hateful policies, and have always looked for ways to push forward progressive policies,” 

“The candidates above represent some of New York’s strongest leaders, and the best that our communities have to offer,” said Jesse Laymon, Citizen Action State Board member. “I am very excited to have this type of representation in our houses of government.”

Citizen Action of New York is a grassroots organization with eight regional chapters and over 30,000 members across New York State. The organization works on issues important to our communities, including limiting the influence of money in politics, guaranteeing livable wages and economy-boosting jobs, strong public schools, ending mass incarceration, and more. Citizen Action endorses candidates for public office who support the same vision for a New York that works for everyone, not just the wealthy.
