Albany, NY In response to the allegation against New York City mayoral candidate Scott Stringer, Citizen Action of New York’s Co-Executive Director Jess Wisneski released the following statement:

“The epidemic of sexual harassment and abuse in New York politics and government is all too common. As survivors come forward to share their experiences, they need to be heard and respected. We are in a time when we must have political leaders willing to listen, to take responsibility for harms they may have caused and encourage healing and restorative justice. We hope that Scott can be a leader in this moment, but in light of the circumstances, we are rescinding our endorsement of Scott Stringer today.

Fortunately, for the people of New York City, there is a bold progressive in this race who we also proudly endorsed. Our members are deeply inspired by Dianne Morales and we will put our energy in the weeks ahead to ensure her victory. We are in dire need of political leadership with a bold vision, deep rooted connections to community and unquestionable integrity. Dianne is that leader, and the future of New York.
