Our Everyday Heroes Awards is a celebration of the ordinary people who, through community organizing and political action, have demonstrated extraordinary power in winning justice for our communities.

This year we’re honoring the following heroes (full bios can be read by clicking here):

  • Zakiyah Ansari, Advocacy Director & New York City Director at the Alliance for Quality Education
  • Charles Khan, Organizing Director at the Strong Economy For All Coalition
  • Jennifer Ching, Executive Director at the North Star Fund

Even during a pandemic that changed the way we live, work, and organize, we were able to win many key progressive victories thanks to the hard work and dedication of everyday people. The Invest in Our New York campaign won $4.3 billion in new, progressive taxes on ultra-rich New Yorkers and wealthy corporations which will help fund essential public goods like quality education, affordable housing, access to health care, and so much more.
