On October 12, the members of Citizen Action of New York’s Capital District Chapter were proud to announce their endorsement of Chad Putman for New York State Senate. Running to represent the 49th district Putman is a lifelong New Yorker who not only understands the struggles that families in the capital district are facing but has tangible solutions for working class people.

Chad Putman is a lifelong resident of upstate New York. A product of the public school and State University of New York systems, he has over a decade of experience in the human service field. Today Chad is the Deputy City Clerk for the City of Schenectady where he has chaired the American Made – Manufacturing Week Committee for the last two years. He is a passionate community advocate, volunteer and grassroots organizer. If elected, Putman has a broad list of policies he would like to focus on, some of those policies include;

  • Income Inequality – when our elected official (Senator H. Farley) makes three times the average salary of the district he serves.
  • Criminal Justice – when people of color make up 75 percent of the New York State prison population.
  • Poverty – when your race can predict your likelihood of living in poverty. Thirty-five percent of black and 31 percent of Hispanic children live in poverty in the U.S.
  • Choice – Despite 85 percent of New York women supporting “a woman’s right to make private health care decisions regarding pregnancy,” the New York State Senate refuses to pass the 10th point of the Women’s Equality Agenda, which would codify choice.

Chad was the first in his family to earn a college degree and understands the importance of equality in our government. As the State Senator of the 49th district, He will be a warrior for working class New Yorkers.
