DEMOCRACY
We Believe in A Fair and True Democracy
We envision an inclusive democracy that allows all New Yorkers to participate fully and equally in the electoral process. Only by winning a true democracy can we address the most urgent issues of our time: climate change, structural racism, economic inequality, mass incarceration, policing, education, housing, and health care. Together we can transform our broken voting and electoral systems, and create a vibrant, healthy democracy that values all of our voices.
Everyone Deserves an Inclusive Democracy
We must strengthen and expand our democracy, which means protecting the rights of every single person to participate in it. So we must:
- Fully implement the new small dollar matching program for state elections.
- Make it easier to vote.
- Draw fair district lines so voters get to pick their representatives, not the other way around.

New York State's Democracy Crisis
Our voting and electoral systems are broken. Wall Street billionaires and rich corporate donors continue to flood our elections with money, drowning out the voices of everyday New Yorkers. While the wealthy can write giant checks, the rest of us have only our votes. Too many New Yorkers are blocked or discouraged from voting, especially low-income people, people of color, and people with disabilities. This undermines our quest for a truly representative democracy that listens and responds to the needs of all people.
We’re working to uplift candidates for public office across the state who will champion voting rights and prioritize working-class New Yorkers! Check out our list of endorsed candidates.
