Why We're Fighting

We all work hard so our families can be happy and healthy, and have every opportunity to thrive. Unfortunately, corporate legislators and their ultra-wealthy donors prioritize profits over people and rig the system to benefit themselves instead of everyday New Yorkers. As a result, the pot of public money – the tax dollars New York collects – invested in public goods we rely on continues to shrink, making it harder for many New Yorkers to make ends meet. It’s time to change that.

We should be investing more public funds into things like universal childcare, high-quality, affordable housing, literacy coaches and guidance counselors in our public schools, reliable public transportation options, affordable healthcare, and more. There is plenty of money in our state to support all these things, if we ensure the ultra-rich pay what they owe in taxes and get rid of tax breaks that only help giant corporations those at the top. This is how we take New York in the right direction, so that every New Yorker, not just the wealthy few, can get ahead.

What We're Fighting For

Every New Yorker should be able to thrive. We will prioritize investing in public goods and services instead of protecting the super-rich and predatory corporate profits by:

  • Raising taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers so they pay what they owe (S2162/A2576, S2059/A3115, S1570/A3252, S2782/A3193)
  • Reducing state subsidies for corporations (S1980/A3690) to end the pay-for-play culture in Albany
  • Funding programs that provide vital services and public goods including $5 billion for public housing
