Citizen Action of New York Applauds Assembly’s Introduction of Property Tax Circuit Breaker Bill

Citizen Action of New York today announced its support for Assembly bill A.11838, which would create a property tax circuit breaker that would immediately provide relief from New York’s property tax crisis to homeowners, while ensuring funding for quality education for our children. This solution will be paid for by a small tax increase on the wealthiest New Yorkers.

Karen Scharff, Executive Director of Citizen Action of New York said, “The Assembly has offered a reasonable, real solution to New York’s property tax problem while still protecting education. A property tax circuit breaker will lower taxes for homeowners now, keep those taxes low, and defend the quality education our kids need and deserve. By increasing  the  income tax on New York’s millionaires, the Assembly has presented a practical solution that will help our economy by helping those who need relief.”
