The school board candidates
Last month, our Syracuse chapter held a barbecue at the Southwest Community Center. On the menu: learning the views and ideas of local school board candidates.
In past years there was little competition among candidates for seats on the school board, and conversation was virtually nonexistent. This year, Citizen Action is determined to reverse the precedent by getting the community out and getting new people interested in this important body that determines so much of the fate of our children.
The general election for school board in Syracuse will be in November, and a primary will be held on September 15th.
A large crowd attended the successful event
Citizen Action of Syracuse is planning to continue hosting candidate forums and community activities to encourage dialogue about the needs of our kids and creating a better school system.
