Saratoga Springs, NY – Citizen Action of New York, a statewide, grassroots organization that fights for social, racial, economic, and environmental justice, today announced their support of BK Keramati to represent the 110th Assembly District.

“BK Keramati will be a champion for Capital District residents in the Assembly,” said Anita Thayer, Board Chair of the Capital District Chapter of Citizen Action of New York. “BK has worked closely with Citizen Action to advocate for real reforms that will make our government work for New Yorkers, to make our communities stronger.”

“I am particularly pleased to have the endorsement of Citizen Action,” said Keramati. “I became convinced several years ago that the root cause of many of our legislative failures is the role that money plays in our electoral process. Meaningful legislation to solve problems in health care, financial reform, energy independence, and many other areas would be much simpler and more effective if legislators were not so beholden to special interests. Citizen Action allowed me to do more than just write letters and complain; it allowed me to be an active citizen and promote and lobby for what I believed. Citizen Action makes our democracy work better. This is one endorsement I am truly proud of.”

“Citizen Action of New York wants serious changes in New York State and with BK Keramati in the Assembly, we’ll have a partner to win on the issues that matter most to New Yorkers,” said Karen Scharff, Executive Director of Citizen Action of New York. “We’re looking forward to working with BK when he serves in the Assembly to make sure we win on issues like public financing of elections, expanding access to quality, affordable health care, and ensuring a quality education for New York’s kids.”

BK Keramati has already received endorsements from New York State Public Employees Federation, NARAL Pro-Choice New York, Congressman Paul D. Tonko, SEIU 200, and the Working Families Party.
