Tomorrow’s election will decide if our country and our state move backward or forward. There’s so much at stake. Almost 10% unemployment. Hundreds of thousands without access to the health care they need. Millions of children not getting the education they need to succeed in a 21st Century economy. Corrupt politicians beholden to big money special interests and corporations who spend billions to sway elections.

But, there’s hope. We could have a state and nation where our communities are strong. We could live in a society that is built on caring for our fellow people. We could support candidates who are committed to fighting for what we need, and willing to stand up against the temptations of massive corporations and the wealthiest people in America who want to eliminate the middle class.

How can we make sure we move forward, not backward?

We can vote, and then we can remind our friends to vote.

Here’s a sample email you can send to your friends. Let them know to vote on Row E, the Working Families ballot line.

Voting Working Families sends a message to everyone we elect. Your vote says you want a stronger community, better schools, affordable health care, and a government that works for all of us.

There’s still time to make a difference in this election. Send some emails now.

Dear [Name],

I don’t send a lot of messages to my friends about which candidates to vote for, but tomorrow’s election is just too important.

I’m supporting Eric Schneiderman for Attorney General, and all the other candidates on Row E, the Working Families Party line.

I hope that you’ll join me vote on Row E too. Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican or independent, I believe that voting on the WFP/Row E line does something special.

It sends a message. It says to the Tea Party that you are consciously voting for a party that is their polar opposite. The WFP is about equality and solidarity and decency. The Tea Party is about inequality and exclusion and fear-mongering.

It also says to the Democrats: Don’t be wimps! Stand up for an economy that works for everyone. Stand up to Wall Street kleptomaniacs and Fox News bullies.

The WFP has done more for ordinary New Yorkers than any political party in memory. That’s because they focus on issues, not personalities. Living wage jobs. A fair tax system. Better mass transit. Fair treatment for the elderly. Proper investment in children. You get the point. It’s a common-sense party, and it has real muscle to get things done.

We have a new voting system this year in New York. Paper ballots, with tiny type. The WFP is Row E, and their organizers need us to understand how to fill out the ballots (and to tell others!).

Andrew Cuomo, Eric Schneiderman, Tom DiNapoli and hundreds more….these political leaders will each appear on Row A (Democrat) and Row E (Working Families). Every vote that comes in for them on the WFP line gets added to their final tally. And it tells them to fight, really fight, for good jobs, good schools, and good government.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you want to learn more, visit https://citizenactionny.org/rowe.

Take care, and I hope you’ll join me in voting Working Families Party tomorrow, November 2nd!

Thanks!
