Citizen Action of New York officially endorses Jesus Gonzalez in his campaign for election to the State Assembly.
Gonzalez is a candidate in the September 13th Special Election to fill the vacancy in the 54th Assembly District. He is a lifelong Democrat, running on the Working Families ballot line. The 54th Assembly District includes portions of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bushwick, Cypress Hills, East New York and Cityline.
Gonzalez has released a comprehensive reform plan which aims to restore public confidence in New York’s government. The key elements of the plan include reforming special elections, making redistricting truly independent, and creating a public campaign financing system, in order to put people ahead of politicians and corporations.
“Citizen Action is endorsing Jesus Gonzalez because of his clear and strong agenda for election reform in New York State,” said Tè Revesz, chair of the New York City chapter of Citizen Action. “He understands the urgent need for election reform, including public financing of elections, independent redistricting, and greater disclosure. We are confident that Jesus Gonzalez will be a champion of reform in Albany.”
