Community Rallies Behind Progressive Leaders
Albany, NY – Citizen Action of New York, a grassroots membership organization that fights for key issues like fair education funding, quality and affordable health care for all, Fair Elections campaign finance reform, racial justice, and a more progressive tax system, today announced their endorsement of two Capital District State Senate candidates, Senator Neil Breslin for reelection to represent the 44th Senate District and Cecilia Tkaczyk to represent the new 46th Senate District.
“We need leaders in the State Senate who will stand up for their constituents, and that’s why we’re proud give our endorsement to Cecilia Tkaczyk to represent the 46th Senate District and Senator Neil Breslin to represent the 44th Senate District,” said Anita Thayer, Co-Chair of Citizen Action of New York’s Capital District Chapter. “So many important policies that affect working families are decided in the halls of the Capitol. We know that Cecilia and Neil will be fighting every day to make sure those policies will make our communities stronger.”
“Our 20,000 members around the state are concerned about jobs, education, health care, and stopping the influence of big money in politics – and with Neil Breslin and Cecilia Tkaczyk in the State Senate, we know we’ll have partners who will fight for our values,” said Ivette Alfonso, President of Citizen Action of New York. “When it comes to making sure our kids get the education they need, and that our elected officials aren’t behold to CEO campaign contributors, Neil and Cecilia are proven champions for working families and we look forward to working with them as they serve in the State Senate.”
“My time in public service has been about one thing: ensuring fairness for all,” Senator Breslin said. “I have dedicated my career to ensuring working families have access to affordable health care, quality education and fair wages. Every New Yorker deserves a government that not only provides for their basic needs, but also one which recognizes and protects their rights and dignity. I am honored to have Citizen Action’s support as I continue to bring my message of responsible and progressive government to the State Capitol.”
“I am honored to have the support of such a great organization like Citizen Action,” Senate candidate for the 46th district, Cecilia Tkaczyk stated. “As the vice president of my local school board I have been a strong advocate in the fight to protect and better our schools. I look forward to continuing to work with Citizen Action in the Senate as we work together to ensure upstate New York finally receives its fair share.”
