Today, we’ve announced that our Board of Directors has unanimously voted to endorse 4 outstanding candidates to represent us in the State Legislature. Below is the list of the candidates, along with some quotes from our local Board chairs and Citizen Action’s President.
Capital District:
Senator Neil Breslin to Represent the 44th State Senate District & Cecilia Tkaczyk to Represent the 46th State Senate District
We need leaders in the State Senate who will stand up for their constituents, and that’s why we’re proud give our endorsement to Cecilia Tkaczyk to represent the 46th Senate District and Senator Neil Breslin to represent the 44th Senate District. So many important policies that affect working families are decided in the halls of the Capitol. We know that Cecilia and Neil will be fighting every day to make sure those policies will make our communities stronger.
-Anita Thayer, Co-Chair of Citizen Action of New York’s Capital District ChapterOur 20,000 members around the state are concerned about jobs, education, health care, and stopping the influence of big money in politics – and with Neil Breslin and Cecilia Tkaczyk in the State Senate, we know we’ll have partners who will fight for our values. When it comes to making sure our kids get the education they need, and that our elected officials aren’t behold to CEO campaign contributors, Neil and Cecilia are proven champions for working families and we look forward to working with them as they serve in the State Senate.

New York City:
Brad Hoylman to Represent the 27th State Senate District
Brad Hoylman’s experience in bringing community, labor and business interests together will help ensure that our state moves to creating jobs, a strong economy, and a strong community for working families in New York City and across New York State. We’re proud to offer Brad our endorsement because we know that he will be a tireless fighter for the interests of working families, by fighting for key issues like Fair Elections campaign finance reform that will limit the influence that CEO campaign contributors can have in our election system.
-Té Revesz, a member of the Board of Citizen Action of New York and chair of the Citizen Action of New York City ChapterAcross New York, our 20,000 members have been fighting against big money interests to have a government that works for them. Nily Rozic to Represent the 25th Assembly District
We need strong, knowledgeable leaders to represent our communities at the Capitol, and with Nily Rozic, we’ll have a partner who understands how Albany works and will be an effective fighter on behalf of working families. Nily is an outstanding example of a new generation of progressives. She has shown that she will work to bring more women into government and make sure our families have access to quality, affordable health care, that our government works for the people and not for special interest campaign contributors, and that our children get the opportunities they need to be successful from kindergarten to college to a career.
-Té Revesz, a member of the Board of Citizen Action of New York and chair of the Citizen Action of New York City ChapterIssues like quality, affordable health care, fair education funding, limiting the influence of money in politics, and justice for families are critically important to Citizen Action’s 20,000 members across the state. These issues face tough opponents in our state government. That’s why we need strong leaders like Nily who won’t back down and who have proven their commitment to fight for New York’s working families.
