Binghamton, NY – In response to the announcement that New York will ban hydrofracking, Eileen Hamlin, a resident of Kirkwood, NY and a member of the Board of Directors of Citizen Action of New York, said:
A huge weight has been lifted off the shoulders of Southern Tier residents who have been living under the threat of fracking. I’m thrilled that Gov. Cuomo listened to the science and health professionals who know that fracking can’t be done safely.Because of the work of so many dedicated people who have fought against this powerful industry, our community is safe from this inherently dangerous practice. Now we must continue this trend toward responsible renewable energy.
