Buffalo, NY – Citizen Action of WNY, a grassroots community organization that works locally for significant social change, has been active for three decades in working to improve the quality of public education for all children in the Buffalo Public Schools. Some of the organization’s accomplishments include:
- Winning a progressive Code of Conduct for the Buffalo Public Schools to help break the school to prison pipeline and working toward effectively implementing that policy throughout the Buffalo Public Schools.
- Consistently winning greater funding for Buffalo Public Schools by rallying and advocating for Buffalo locally and through actions at the Capitol in Albany.
- Pressing for a new attendance policy and working with the Buffalo Public Schools and other partners to keep students safe and in school.
With all six Board of Education sub-district seats up for election in May of 2016, the organization invites anyone interested in running with a progressive endorsement to interview early. Requests for interview are preferred by January 15, 2016.
