Community Group Cites Teachout’s Commitment to Limit Influence of Big Money in Politics
Kingston, NY – Dozens of Hudson Valley activists gathered at Citizen Action of New York’s Kingston office on Saturday to announce the organization’s enthusiastic endorsement of Zephyr Teachout to represent New York’s 19th Congressional District.
“The Citizen Action community is so excited to support Zephyr Teachout for Congress,” said Hope Gamble, a member of Citizen Action of the Hudson Valley. “She’s an honest, dynamic woman who is leading the effort to end political corruption and restore our democracy. We have no doubt that Zephyr Teachout is the best candidate to represent us in the House of Representatives.”

Citizen Action members noted Teachout’s commitment to issues that truly matter to our community. She’s been a strong partner in the fight to end the influence of big money in politics by both creating a system of publicly funded elections to encourage small donor participation and passing a Constitutional amendment to reverse the disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court decision that has opened the floodgates of unlimited corporate cash into our political system.

Teachout has also championed increased investment in renewable energy, opposed dangerous fossil-fuel based practices like fracking, worked to ensure the wealthy pay their fair share in taxes by closing loopholes, fought to provide all children with high quality, fully funded public education, and supported economy-boosting jobs that pay livable wages.
