Citizen Action of New York is the state’s leading multi-issue grassroots membership organization, engaging a new generation of emerging leaders and building power in communities from Long Island to Buffalo.
Along with our partner organizations, the Public Policy and Education Fund (PPEF) and the New York Civic Engagement Table (NYCET), we work to advance a more just democracy by working toward eliminating racism and other isms, and ending runaway inequality.
We currently have openings in Albany, Buffalo, New York City and the Hudson Valley, and are seeking applicants with the following experience, skills and attributes:
- Proven ability to work with people of varying ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Desire to build power for and cultivate leaders within traditionally marginalized and disenfranchised communities
- Experience recruiting people to work on campaigns or projects
- Experience leading and working within a coalition or collaborative setting
- Facilitation and training experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Familiarity with data and tracking
- Self-motivation and ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to conceptualize and implement a variety of campaigns and projects
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines
- Proven ability to work independently and without on-site supervision
- Spanish speaking skills, fundraising ability, and knowledge of New York’s political landscape are a strong plus
- Positions outside of NYC require access to reliable transportation
Opportunities include openings for Organizer, Lead Organizer, and Regional Coordinator. Supervisory and leadership positions require a minimum 4-5 years of organizing experience.
