On Monday, October 17, members of Citizen Action of New York’s Capital District Chapter announced their endorsement of Shaun Francis for New York State Senate. Citing his strong support for campaign finance reform and desire to invest in clean renewable energy, Citizen Action urged voters to cast their ballots for Francis.
Francis joins a long list of progressive candidates pushing to flip the New York State Senate, and return New York to its days of political productivity. Francis is fighting to build an economy of tomorrow driven by a fair taxation system, new green energy jobs that can’t be outsourced, and a strong public education system that prepares all children for a bright future regardless of the zip code they live in. if elected, Francis also plans to lead the conversation on campaign finance reform in Albany. Currently, he supports the following:
- Full-time legislature
- Ban or limit outside income
- Close the so-called “LLC Loophole”
- Real campaign finance reform with publicly funded elections
- Independent redistricting
- Chamber leadership term-limits
- Prohibit using taxpayer dollars for political campaign mailings
- Pension forfeiture for convicted corrupt legislators
Francis has spent his career fighting for hard-working families and for the values we all share. As a representative for the Office and Professional Employees International Union, Shaun has fought back against powerful corporate executives who seek to squeeze every penny of profit they can from their employees without paying workers fair wages for an honest day’s work.
