Susan Weber of Albany, NY said: “We were hoping to meet with Senator George Amedore last night to ask him to sign our anti-corruption pledge at the candidate forum in Guilderland and instead Amedore and his entourage gave us a Trump-style welcome.
As soon as he arrived, Amedore surrounded himself with a group of 5 or 6 body-men and as I walked into the library behind the Senator asking him to sign, one of them pushed me to the ground. I knew Amedore wouldn’t be happy to see us, but I couldn’t believe his supporters would treat anyone that way. You see this type of thing on T.V., but you never expect it to happen in your local State Senate race.
The Demand Democracy pledge calls for closing the LLC loophole that allows unlimited dark money contributions to campaigns, a public financing of elections system that empowers small donors and real ethics reform that addresses Albany’s culture of corruption.
The pay to play corrupt culture of Albany won’t change as long as Senators like Amedore refuse to change the rules.”
