On Tuesday, October 11, members of the Citizen Action of New York’s Western New York Chapter announced their enthusiastic endorsement of Amber Small for New York State Senate. Citing her progressive values and motivated desire to end the influence that wealthy donors have over our state’s leaders, Citizen Action urged voters to cast their ballots for Small.
Small is running for state senate in the 60th district, located in Buffalo. It includes the Town and City of Tonawanda, Grand Island, Hamburg, Evans, Brant, Orchard Park and parts of the City of Buffalo. If elected, Small would support the following:
- Closing the LLC loophole which allows donors to greatly surpass campaign contribution limits.
- Independent redistricting that will end political gerrymandering and encourage competitive elections.
- Increased penalties for violations of ethics rules by public officials.
- Forfeiture of pensions and benefits for any public official convicted of corruption.
- The expansion and enforcement of the prohibition of campaign contributions for personal use.
- Increased resources to JCOPE, the Board of Elections and law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute corruption and ethics violations.
Currently, Small serves as the Executive Director of the Parkside Community Association. In this role, she is an advocate for 2,500 residents working to enhance their quality of life through crime prevention, traffic calming, fair housing advocacy and more. Amber also serves on the Board of Directors for B-Team Buffalo and proudly serves as Vice Chair of WEPAC, a nonpartisan group focused on increasing female involvement in politics and government. Amber is a graduate of the University at Buffalo and resides in North Buffalo Parkside neighborhood with her family.
