Are you watching this thing unfold? Donald Trump has been tweeting like a 12-year-old experiencing his first breakup, but no matter what he says or does, it’s looking like the Republican-lead Congress will not be able to pass his health care bill. But seriously, who the heck would support a law that makes it so insurance companies literally have to cover almost nothing. If their bill passed, there would have been plans where your coverage would pay for aromatherapy, but not chemotherapy, and as much as I want to end this sentence with a “ha ha,” I can’t because that’s an actual thing in this bill! Have I mentioned how happy I am that Trump Care probably isn’t going to pass? No? Well I am, and seriously guys, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for fighting as hard as you did. If it weren’t for your efforts at town hall meetings, district office rallies, phone calls, and letters, we might be on our way to the end of quality, affordable health insurance as we know it. Instead, we get to fight another day.

And Then We Die. On March 23, the 7th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, activists across the state held Anti-TrumpCare actions. In Glens Falls, a number of frustrated parents, seniors, and activists orchestrated a “die-in” at Rep. Elise Stefanik’s office. Stefanik, like most Republicans, wasn’t interested in facing her constituents, so of course, she was a no-show. The Southern Tier chapter refused to be out-done and organized a “die-in” of their own. With organized actions happening across the state, New York Republicans are really starting to feel the pressure.
Trump Care Resistance. In Kingston, the Hudson Valley Chapter organized their own rally to keep the pressure up on Faso. The organizing in Kingston seems to be working. After starting the year off singing the praises of Trump, Faso’s language around Agent Orange and his toxic health care bill has cooled off.
The Legend of Zeldin and Trump Care. On March 23, the Long Island, Rep. Lee Zeldin was in for a rude awakening when the Long Island Progressive Coalition paid him a visit and demanded that he vote against Donald Trump and the GOP’s nightmare Healthcare bill.

On March 10, our Western New York organizer, Samantha Nephew, participated in the Native Nations march held in Washington, D.C. It was a powerful exhibit of solidarity and support for indigenous activists fighting to protect their rights to their land and water, including those still working to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline.
