We’re almost a hundred days into the Trump Administration and the Hunger Games haven’t’ been announced yet. We bombed Syria, dropped the Mother of all Bombs in Afghanistan, and then had North Korea threaten to bomb us – but other than those small snafus, everything seems to be OK. Right? Right? I’m not sure Donald Trump actually knows what he’s doing. I’m convinced he’s in the Oval Office reading press briefings and treating them like one of those “choose your own adventure” books from the 90s, only he’s such a sore loser when he makes the wrong decision that he tries to go back like nothing happened. Too bad we can’t do that with his election. OK, enough Trump talk, let’s get to the important stuff: This week’s accomplishments.

Faso Under Fire. Earlier today, the Hudson Valley Chapter turned up the pressure on Congress member John Faso as the group joined community members, activist and constituents to do one more protest in front of his district office before he returned to D.C. Faso has been a huge supporter of Trump and we were determined to let him know that he needs to reject Trump Care and tax cuts for the rich.
Tax Day Action. On April 15, people across the state joined forces to hit the streets and demand Donald Trump release his taxes. Our members in the Southern Tier, Long Island, Central New York, the Capital District and NYC joined the 30,000-strong mobilization. Donald, it’s clear that people everywhere do care about your tax returns.
Justice Works Is Back. It’s my favorite time of the year! On June 3 & 4, 2017, hundreds of New Yorkers who fight for justice will join together. Regardless of the issues you work on, or how you work on them: if you’re an organizer, a volunteer, a door knocker, a blogger, a policy wonk, or all of these things – Justice Works is the conference for you. Last year was an empowering experience with keynote speaker, Keeanga Yamahtta Taylor, and who could forget my rousing 2015/16 year in review presentation? This year’s conference will be bigger and better, so sign up before we sell out. Click here to RSVP

Last year, I connected with Citizen Action board member, Ruthly Cadestin, to discuss her experience at Justice Works 2015. She was pumped about the 2016 conference and was even willing to drive people to Albany if they wanted to attend. Today you get to relive that conversation and find out why there is no other gathering like Justice Works. Click here to listen.

TAKE ACTION!
The federal budget proposed by Donald Trump would destroy the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to keep the air we breathe and the water we drink safely While we fight the Trump administration every step of the way in D.C., New York must lead on climate change by transitioning to 100% renewable energy. It’s up to Governor Cuomo. Click here to take action.
