Activists from the Hudson Valley Endorse with Plans for Going Door-to-Door
Kingston, NY – Today, Citizen Action of New York’s Hudson Valley Chapter announced its endorsement of Kingston Alderman Lynn Eckert (D-Kingston) for the Ulster County Legislature. Eckert, an associate professor at Marist College has inspired Citizen Action members and constituents in the fifth district with a focus on doing what is fair and just for all people in the city of Kingston and ability to connect with constituents. In recent months, Kingston has become a hotbed for political action as residents push back against Rep. John Faso’s support for President Donald Trump’s political agenda. In support of Eckert, Citizen Action will mobilize a door knocking campaign to spread the word about the candidate.
“Lynn Eckert represents the kind of politics we want in Ulster County,” said Callie Jayne, Lead Organizer of Citizen Action of New York’s Hudson Valley Chapter. “She can’t be bought, is driven by her values, and understands that our local economy can only be driven by working people, not the super-rich.”
As the Democratic nominee for District 5 Legislator, Lynn is looking forward to bringing her current Common Council experience and insight to the Ulster County Legislature. She has been instrumental in bringing positive changes to Kingston and looks forward to bringing that same energy, leadership, and vision to the county level.
Members and volunteers of Citizen Action of New York’s Hudson Valley Chapter have been engaging the community with daily outreach and a budding Block Captain program since January. They plan to take the energy from that and launch a peer to peer campaign to get out the vote for Lynn Eckert.
