“Citizen Action congratulates Assemblyperson Crystal Peoples-Stokes on her selection as the next Majority Leader of the New York State Assembly. Crystal Peoples-Stokes has been a leader, member, and ally of Citizen Action of New York for decades. She has consistently stood alongside us in the fight for racial, social, and economic justice, as well as worked to elevate the voices of historically marginalized groups, including women and people of color. In partnering with her to win funding for community schools and raising the minimum wage, we saw how Assemblyperson Peoples-Stokes deeply understands the needs of our communities and gets results. We look forward to working with the new Majority Leader in 2019 to pass a robust Fair Elections package, fully fund our public schools, end the school-to-prison pipeline, and overhaul New York’s criminal justice system.”
