Buffalo, NY – Citizen Action of Western New York announced its endorsement of Democratic candidate Adam Bojak for Assembly District 149, which includes the city of Buffalo. Adam is a tenants’ rights attorney and activist who has been outspoken on a variety of issues impacting our communities, from rising rents to underfunded schools.
“My family and I were up against a horrible landlord who was pushing us out of our home. When I called Adam he came to my home the same night. He sat down with me, looking over my paperwork and gave me great advice,” said Shantae Hemphill, a former tenancy client of Adam’s. “I appreciate Adam for putting his clients first, and being there for us. This is the kind of representative Buffalo residents need in Albany.”
“When my family and I recently faced a housing issue, Adam Bojak stepped up and helped and protected us when we had nowhere else to turn,”said Jaqueline Martinez, a former tenancy client of Adam’s. “I know that he will fight for those of us in New York who are being taken advantage of every day.”
“Through my work with tenants and indigent family court clients in the Western New York community, I have witnessed firsthand, over and over, the serious effects that poverty has on people who are working as hard as they can to live their lives happily and with dignity, and I have come to understand how the systems that are currently in place are not designed to lessen the burdens that everyday people face,”said Adam Bojak, candidate for Assembly District 149. “Citizen Action is doing amazing work, both in Buffalo and across the State of New York, to fully fund our schools, ensure access to affordable housing and make billionaires pay what they owe. They are taking on the entrenched power structure in Albany in all that they do, and our campaign looks forward to joining forces with them to put control of the District 149 Assembly seat in the hands of the people – where it belongs.”
