New York, NY— Citizen Action of New York announced its endorsement of several progressive champions who are fighting for a New York that works for the many and not the few, wealthy and well-connected.
Citizen Action of New York is continuing its support for State Senators Michael Gianaris in Senate District 12; Jessica Ramos in Senate District 13; Julia Salazar in Senate District 18; Zellnor Myrie in Senate District 20; Brian Kavanagh in Senate District 26, Brad Hoylman in Senate District 27; Liz Krueger in Senate District 28: Robert Jackson in Senate District 31; Gustavo Rivera, Senate District 33; Alessandra Biaggi in Senate District 34; and Jamaal Bailey in Senate District 36.
“These state senators have worked alongside Citizen Action for years to realize the vision of a New York that works for all of us. We are grateful for their steadfast progressive leadership and proud to endorse them for re-election,” said Margaret Segall, Citizen Action Board Member, of Liz, Gustavo, Brian and Brad.
“Citizen Action backed Alessandra Biaggi’s insurgent campaign in 2018, and in her first term, she has emerged as a passionate and effective legislative champion for our priority issues, including workplace protections, renters’ rights and voting reforms. We’re proud to endorse her for re-election,” Margaret added.
Christina Sparrock, Citizen Action Board Member, said, “Jessica Ramos, whom we endorsed in her bold 2018 campaign, has shaken up the status quo in Albany with her fierce advocacy for the people’s priorities, like rent reform and fixing the MTA. We’re proud to be in these fights with her.”
“Citizen Action endorsed Zellnor Myrie in his first election in 2018, and in his first term he has helped lead the way to significant progressive victories on affordable housing, criminal justice reform and voting rights. We enthusiastically support him for re-election,” Christina added.
Jesse Laymon, co-chair of Citizen Action’s New York City Chapter, said, “Robert Jackson has been fighting nonstop for the children of New York State and their right to a quality education for many years. Citizen Action is proud to join him in demanding full funding for our schools.”
“Jamaal Bailey is an effective leader in the State Senate on police reform and criminal justice issues, and we endorse his re-election to preserve and advance our progress in the years to come,” Jesse added.
“We are excited to continue our support to these progressive champions,” said Stanley Fritz, Citizen Action Political Director. “Running for office is easy, governing is much harder. These candidates have consistently shown that they have what it takes to represent their constituents and fight for all New Yorkers.”
