New York, NY– In response to a rise in anti-Asian violence across the nation and the recent mass shooting at three Atlanta spas, Stanley Fritz, Citizen Action Political Director, released the following statement:
“We stand with our AAPI sisters and brothers. Over the last year we have seen an unacceptable rise in anti-Asian violence. Hate crimes targeting AAPI people are up 150% since January 2020. Last night’s massacre of 8 people, including 7 innocent women in, Atlanta shows exactly how ruthless and deadly white supremacy and patriarchy are. It’s a public health crisis that puts Black and brown people, and especially women, in danger every day. Our elected officials have to take this threat seriously. Until we deal with America’s original sin of racism, whiteness will remain a constant threat to all of us.”
