New York, NY— Citizen Action of New York announced its endorsement of organizer and survivor advocate Jaslin Kaur for New York City Council District 23 in eastern Queens.
Jaslin is running to fight for affordable housing, health care for all and fully funded schools, among other progresssive solutions she’s championing to address the issues impacting her community. Citizen Action also cites her support for mobile crisis teams instead of cops as first responders to calls involving mental health crises as a key reason for its endorsement.
“I am honored to have the support of Citizen Action who are bringing systemic solutions to systemic problems in our city. Together, we’ll win housing, healthcare, and education equity for all New Yorkers,” said Jaslin Kaur, Democratic candidate for NYC Council District 23.
“Jaslin has put forth a truly progressive agenda to make sure we invest in the things that matter and protect the unique qualities of District 23,” said Jamell Henderson, Citizen Action NYC Regional Board Chair. “From senior care to streamlining bus services and ending food insecurity, she is putting the needs of everyday people first. We are proud to support her and look forward to seeing her do great things as a member of the New York City Council.”
Citizen Action of New York is a grassroots organization with eight regional chapters and over 30,000 members across New York State.
