New York, NY – Citizen Action of New York kicks off the launch of its Staten Island chapter with ranked endorsements in the race for Staten Island Borough President. They ranked Cesar Vargas as their first choice and Lorie Honor as their second. The Borough President race is the start of what the chapter hopes will be a progressive wave in the notoriously conservative borough.
It’s been more than 30 years since a Democrat has held the Staten Island Borough President’s office. Cesar and Lorie are the top progressive candidates that are committed to advancing policies that benefit the many, not the few.
“I’m proud to receive the endorsement of Citizen Action and be their #1 choice for Staten Island Borough President,” said Cesar Vargas, candidate for Staten Island borough president. “Together we will work to create a more just safe, and prosperous Staten Island for all working families.”
“Citizen Action is an organization that fights the good fight. We are committed and dedicated towards more diversity, inclusiveness and equity in our communities. We decided to endorse a person who embodies who we are: bold, unafraid and willing to be on the frontlines for change. Staten Island is writing a new political chapter and we will stand with our Staten Island branch. Cesar Vargas is the candidate to help usher in a new Staten Island,” said Jasmine Robinson, Citizen Action New York City Regional Board member.
Citizen Action of New York is a grassroots organization with eight regional chapters and over 30,000 members across New York State. We work on issues important to our communities, including fair elections, equitable school funding, housing for all, environmental justice, and ending mass incarceration.
