Albany, NY – In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), protecting the health care of millions of Americans, Citizen Action Co-Executive Director Rosemary Rivera, released the following statement:
“Today, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of 23 million Americans who were at risk of losing their health care during a global health crisis. For the third time, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been upheld by our nation’s highest court.
“Citizen Action helped coordinate New York’s effort to win the ACA, passed in 2010, and we’re proud to see it still here to help so many people. For the past decade, the ACA has made sure New Yorkers could access life-saving care, ending the deadly cycle of denials, delays and discrimination against the millions of New Yorkers and people across the country living with pre-existing conditions. We will continue to build on the powerful provisions of the Affordable Care Act until we have a true universal health care system for all.”
