Albany, NY– Citizen Action of New York’s Capital District chapter announced its endorsement of multidisciplinary artist and educator Danielle Colin for Troy City Council (District 1). Danielle, also known as D. Colin, is a strong advocate for children and families in the Capital Region. She is committed to fighting for affordable and safe housing, police reform, and education, among other issues impacting families in District 1.
“When we say we need more people who are of the community and for the people running for office, Danielle fits that description. We’re excited to support her campaign and look forward to seeing fresh faces like hers and Kiani’s on the Troy City Council. Our communities deserve leaders who speak to the intersections of justice and will push forward a truly progressive, peoples’ agenda. We know that Danielle has the courage, compassion and vision to help make Troy stronger and more resilient in the future,” said Ivette Alfonso, Citizen Action president.
“Throughout my professional life, I have worked to inspire, empower, and engage communities not only through the arts and education but also with the idea that we all need to be active participants in creating the progress we want to see. In this critical time, we cannot afford to vote politics as usual. My commitment and passion is for the people and our future depends on the hope and belief that change is possible,” said Danielle Colin, candidate for Troy City Council, District 1.
