Kingston, NY – With early voting set to begin on October 23, Citizen Action of New York’s Hudson Valley chapter announced their endorsements of Ulster County Legislator Peter Criswell for re-election in District 7 and Kayleigh Zaloga and Kevin Freeman for Saugerties Town Board.
“I think these candidates are the perfect embodiment of Citizen Action’s ideals and values. I believe strongly that they will fight to bring justice and equity to their communities. We are proud to support their campaigns because we know they will fight for everyday people,” said Alim Flowers, Citizen Action Hudson Valley lead organizer.
Each candidate received the chapter’s endorsement because of their core values and belief in the inherent dignity of all people. As Ulster County legislator, Peter has exemplified what people-powered leadership is. The chapter is also proud to endorse Kayleigh, who has worked on budget and state legislative priorities with Assembly Health Committee Chair Richard Gottfried since 2017, as well as Kevin, who currently serves as secretary for the Saugerties Zoning Board of Appeals and has long been a champion of human rights.
“I’m grateful to have received the endorsement of Citizen Action of New York. I strongly believe in their values and their mission to help our community members gain access to affordable housing, comprehensive health care, and quality public education. I look forward to partnering with them to achieve these goals,” said Ulster County Legislator Peter Criswell for re-election in District 7.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Citizen Action, an organization with integrity and a deep-rooted compassion for all people in our community. We have fought on the same side of many issues at the State level, and I’m excited to work together to keep improving quality of life right here in Saugerties, ” said Kayleigh Zaloga, Democratic candidate for Saugerties Town Board.
“I have been a proud member of Citizen Action since I first joined Faso Friday in 2017 to protect the Affordable Care Act and fight for health care for all. I applaud their advocacy for human rights and look forward to representing our shared values at the local level,” said Kevin Freeman, Democratic candidate for Saugerties Town Board.
Citizen Action of New York is a grassroots organization with eight regional chapters and over 30,000 members across New York State. The organization works on issues important to our communities, including fair elections, housing for all, environmental justice, and ending mass incarceration.
