In response to the ruling of the State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division Third Judicial Department, Rebecca Garrard, Deputy Executive Director of Citizen Action of New York, released the following statement:
“Citizen Action is thrilled to celebrate the upholding of the historic RGB rent reduction in Kingston. Having begun this fight in earnest in 2019, seeing the hard work of the last five years of organizing and empowering tenants result in this enormous victory is truly overwhelming. We are deeply proud to have been part of every step along this journey, from knocking on doors to testifying at hearings to participating in this lawsuit. The courts have affirmed what local community members and decision-makers have declared for years: tenants urgently need relief from predatory real estate special interests.”
