Donovan Again Betrays Ethics and Wall Street Reforms

Albany, NY – Proving his talk about wanting to reform Albany is nothing more than a political campaign slogan, Republican Dan Donovan tonight once again demonstrated that he’s unwilling to support meaningful reforms, regardless of whether it’s ethics, election, or Wall Street reforms. Today at 5:30 PM Mr. Donovan joined Republican Senate Leader Dean Skelos at 74 State, an exclusive Albany hotel, and asked the Senator’s cronies to pay up to $10,000 to play. Senator Skelos, the most powerful Albany Republican, has blocked reform year after year.

New York State Strengthen Social Security Campaign

Albany, NY – Advocates from across New York State gathered today to launch a new campaign aimed at protecting and strengthening Social Security benefits for current retirees and future generations. The coalition also released a report, “Social Security Works for New York,” detailing the benefits of Social Security to New Yorkers and the state economy.

Americans for Responsible Taxes

Albany – Organizations representing workers, children, health care consumers, seniors and low and moderate income New Yorkers spoke out today in an Albany press conference against any extension of Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, saying that continuing the cuts will raise the federal deficit and make the federal government unable to fund the state and local services that average New Yorkers depend on. The New York organizations released an analysis by the Fiscal Policy Institute finding that a proposal by House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Oh) to extend all of the Bush tax cuts and to cut $101 billion in funding for non-security discretionary programs would hit New York where it hurts – to the tune of $6 billion.
