Dear Activists,
A good stat came out this week: a Walmart employee earning the company’s median salary of $19,177 per year would have to work for more than 1000 years to reach the $22.2 million paid out to the company’s CEO Doug McMillon in 2017. A corporation that can afford to pay its CEO $22.2 million can afford to pay its workers a living wage (and kick in some paid sick days as well). It’s time to demand more from big corporations.

AROUND THE STATE
Workers, health advocates, and community leaders came out in full force to speak in support of paid sick day legislation in Albany County. Currently 40% of workers in the area lack even a single paid sick day, which forces them to choose between coming to work sick or paying their bills.
The Federal Fightback Committee in the Hudson Valley has been meeting regularly to make sure John Faso isn’t given a free pass following his disastrous votes against health care, attacks on SNAP, and for letting the Trump tax scam pass Congress.
The Trump Chicken visited Utica this week (how can I not include this?). Our organizers and leaders had a fun time showing it off to the local community.
